Now that all that drama about my domains being down is over, I can get back to my regular programming.
Over the weekend, we went scouting for a dedicated steamer for the shop since I started dyeing with professional acid dyes. The second hand shop had one but we decided to look around first anyway, just to be sure. As it turns out, new steamers weren’t exactly that expensive – only a few francs more than the second hand one – so we got a new toy for the shop – a very nice three tier steamer with an electronic timer and etc. I could wash it out in between steaming sessions and use it as a regular steamer but for now, it’ll just be for the shop.
As for the shop, well, it made its third sale yesterday despite this domain being down. I had to “build” another shop on Etsy, a buy-sell site based in the US. It’s a great site except that one big problem with it is that it charges a fee for every listing and sale. Paypal does the same for credit card payments. It’s not really an issue; I’m still doing okay – just that having to point people to the Etsy store first before the “proper” shop website is annoying. Oh, and you need a credit card to sell on Etsy. 🙂
In terms of product variety, it is now still very much roving and scarves first (although the scarves take a while to weave up), and sock yarn next. I’ll be adding some variety to the roving fibres – alpaca, and Swiss wool instead of just merino – in the next update. Oh, I am hoping to score some very lovely cashmere/merino/silk laceweight yarn so that will be part of the inventory…together with some handmade semi-precious stone earrings. Excitement, really! 🙂
On a completely separate note, don’t get a high limit credit card unless you’re absolutely sure you know what you’re doing.
