Bernama’s take of homosexuality

Recently, a note on Facebook caught my attention. Michelle had written a note in reply to an article Bernama published a few days ago, an article entitled “Homosexual’s Life Of Moral Decadence” (available here).

Some paragraphs just reeked of horrendous self-righteous bullshit! I couldn’t exactly say that in my letter to the editor but judge for yourself below:

In the West, the morally wrong and corrupt homosexual act has turned into a sort of plague, spreading its tentacles far and wide, engulfing individuals with the tendency of adopting this immoral self-indulgence.

“There is no difference between a homosexual act and adultery. Hence, severe punishment should be handed down against homosexuals. Prevention and punishment must be executed”, said Yusri.

Hence, the government is seen as taking stern and firm action to curb this moral decadence, unlike the western nations that provide the so-called freedom to such debauchery.

This act, which is like a malignant cancer, should not be allowed to spread its tentacles, as it threatens to bring destruction and devastation to the society.

Clearly, the homosexual phenomenon is against the human natural behaviour and should be swiftly and firmly dealt with.

Not everyone wants to see the country to be overwhelmed by the influx of moral decadence that erupt from those who are out to draw the people into the dark ages of morality.

If the government was so concerned about the morality of its people, how about putting an end to wife beaters, men who rape their daugthers/grandchildren/relatives, men who cheat on their wives (yes, I know of a few ministers who have a couple of mistresses on the side) for starters? Why pick on homosexuals who are God-fearing and law-abiding (yes, such people do exist) just because some well-known former-politician is accused of sodomy again and people just want him out of the picture?

As for the West being corrupt and approving of such “debauchery”, excuse me but there are swinger clubs and orgies happening in Malaysia, people having sex out in public (balconies, swimming pool) – I was just privy to a whole boatload of stories of that happening and here I am in Switzerland/France, THE WEST, and the only action I see is people kissing by the beach. Heck, people here don’t even talk about their sex life much or less put it on display.

As for destruction and devastation, the last I looked, Spain, Belgium and Netherlands (countries in Europe who have legalised gay marriages) are still on the map and their people enjoy a pretty good standard of life, great public transportation, good education system, excellent cultural exposure and what-not. Destruction and devastation you say….righttttt.

No wonder people in France laugh at us – yes, we make the news in France, y’know…but for all the wrong reasons.

My letter to the editor (sans swearing but still with some sarcasm) is available here.

  1. tomato: Pretty good although the summer weather is strange (hot one minute and then almost like spring the next)…how are you doing? Are you still in NZ?
