Countries visited…

Mine: Nine (4%)
His: THIRTY-FIVE! (15%)

I’m so jealous. Time to spread my wings and before I settle down too!

My parents: Roughly twenty-six countries (11%) – can’t really remember where exactly they went in Europe.

ps: I’ll resize this when I get back from Singapore. Right now, I’m filled with envy! T.T

Off to Singapore…

Yes…a long awaited break.

(FINALLY!)

Work has been bonkers and it doesn’t help that EVERYONE is super busy. I haven’t been into badminton as often as I like – three times a week – and there is only one group of people to blame.

(MANAGEMENT!)

Never mind. Never mind.

Yes, I’m in a happy mood. This will be the last weekend I have with Nil before he goes off to Central Asia for two freaking long months.

( T.T )

No no…no shopping this weekend even though it’s the Grand Singapore Sale.

(DAMNIT!)

Just…spending time with Nil…four days. AHHHHHHH.

(Don’t miss me too much, k?)

The human spirit redefined…for the worse.

It is hard to believe what people are capable of sometimes. To a certain degree, I’m still very much an idealist but as days go by, it is hard to remain so.

  • Back-stabbing.
  • Betrayal.
  • Abuse.
  • Wanton behaviour in exchange for some fragment of popularity, attention, love.
  • Lies.
  • Dishonesty.
  • Pride.
  • Laziness.
  • Hypocrisy.

[Yes, we are guilt of some in small portions but when it comes in huge amount, it is hardly wise to excuse it to the human spirit.]

Sometimes I think of them and I wish I was really wrong.

Yet every time my hopes come up, something comes along to shatter it…like today.

Suddenly I feel sorry for humanity.

The French Film Festival is here again!

Once again, thanks to the Embassade de France en Malaisie, GSC and Alliance Francaise (and of course, the M’sian govy), the French Film Festival is here again!!!

Running from June 1-11 in KL and June 15-21 in Penang, it showcases a myriad of thematic films ranging from drama to documentary. Most of you would have heard of The Emperor’s Journey (La Marche de L’Empereur) – that will be screened at either GSC 1-Utama or Mid-Valley depending on the schedule. Have a gander at GSC’s website for the list of movies and showtimes.

As always, we do a movie marathon during the Film Festival. Last year, five movies were on the list but this time, since I had other domestic obligations, we cut it short to just three – Le Conveyeur, Joyeux Noel and Vipere au Poing. All there were simply amazing; the feel was radically different. I reckoned it was one of the best choices I made in regards to this year’s Film Festival.

“Get out if you don’t like it!”

I’m beginning to think this is a catch-phrase among some of our M’sians – commonfolk or otherwise. Some of the responses to the facts of racism in Malaysia were quite slow, nearly apathatic but it was this that made sparks fly – for me at least:

huh, malaysian government racist? not fair to minority? you want to run to singapore? you want to run to australia? or even the us? please, don’t waste any time and go buy your plane ticket a.s.a.p. Malaysia dont need selfish, unthankful and ass-complaining citizen like you. I’m sorry to say this, but those countries that you might want to migrate stinks 10 times much more than malaysia in human rights records and minority treatments. and after all this while, if you dont know how to speak Bahasa Malaysia properly, then you don’t have the privilage to complain anything about Malaysia. seriously, chinese malaysian like you should learn from Prof. Khoo Khay Kim on how to love Malaysia, its history and its culture. Now thats a man that I can consider true Malaysian, eventhough hes a minority, unlike you.

i like what he wrote. enough said. thanks

oh well, it’s malaysia. we breathe the same air you know. and i feel we should be lucky with everything that we have right now. please don’t complain. imagine yourself in indonesia or thailand right now? how would you feel? we should be thankful.

And then…

Person B

I agree, Malaysians complain way too much. For example, Indonesia and Thailand faces some of the worst problems in this day in age. In Thailand, we’ve got a prime minister thats not wanted by the thai people and protests going on 24/7 and islamic rebels fighting for religious freedom in the south. In Indonesia, we’ve got deadly earthquakes happening every year with a struggling economic stabibility program to get back on their feet. You know, Indonesia is actually the largest muslim populated country in the world, right? Do the chinese/indian minorities complain just as much in indonesia? I surely dont think so. Im well aware that the indonesian chinese speak fluent indo and have adopted indonesian names as well, and i frankly think it was a good idea. Even though it was negatively done..

What i see people do in the united states is that they adopt american names, just to adapt. In public schools, if you just moved to the states from a different country and can only speak a limited amount of english, you are put into ESL (English as a second language). You are taught to speak the proper language, in a proper manner.

Now i dont really know where i was going with this, but i just wanted to let you guys know that Malaysia really, really, does NOT have it THAT bad.

Save the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex!

The Save the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex campaign, organised by Malaysian Nature Society, is a campaign dedicated to saving the 130 million-year-old forest in Perak. It is also our last significant remnant of unprotected rainforest . The rainforest is now under threat from both legal and illegal logging.

We need your help in signing a petition in the form of a prepaid postcard to YB Menteri Besar of Perak and to YAB the Prime Minister of Malaysia. I know you might be thinking that your signature won’t make a difference but it will. Remember the saying “sikit-sikit lama-lama jadi bukit” and “you are never too small to make a difference”!

You see, one person – me or you – may not create a ripple but a couple few thousand sure gives a whole new perspective on things. Saving the rainforests might sound like some sort of heroic deed that is not done by normal people like you and me but it’s people like you and me that can make a difference.

Check out this website at http://64.91.240.155/bt/. There is an online petition there that you can sign and a list of other activities that you can do to help out with this campaign. Five minutes is all it takes.

Lets take charge of our God-given responsibilities and lend a helping hand before Mother Nature decides to give up on all of us. Remember, we can’t jolly well move to another planet.
