Christmas is here, folks!

Mei | Life | Saturday, December 24th, 2005

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos….

Have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year, folks!

Away!

Well folks, I thought I’d put up a notice of some sort.

I’ll be away from today onwards till 3rd January - at the time of this post, I would be already on board my flight to CDG (Paris) via Dubai and well, I doubt I’ll have anything to blog about during my vacation in Lyon as well. Have a good weekend/week ahead and come visit again after the New Year for pictures and recap of the holiday, ya?

^_^

*wavles bye bye*

(ps: There will be a surprise Christmas post after this, me thinks…but just in case you don’t see it…blessed Christmas!)

Countdown to the New Year - Part II

Mei | Thoughts | Wednesday, December 21st, 2005

Part II is here!

The Year of 2005
July

  • Went through my first yeast infection - which then prompted me to do my first pap smear.
  • Harry Potter VI came out on print.
  • “Make Poverty History” kicked off.
  • Resigned from my previous job after several ‘interesting’ incidents.

August

  • Got a new job a week after my resignation.
  • Spent about ten days in Singapore and then Hanoi. Got myself some scars to show for it too. ~_~
  • Ended up in a few more online-based (over MSN, forums, etc) spats with the ex and his sister.
  • Decided that M’sian Idol II wasn’t worth the watch.

September

  • Got myself my own domain and started off thescarfer.net. ^_^
  • Celebrate our first anniversary with much enlightenment as Beslan goes through its first year since the tragedy.

October

  • The ex gets angry at a post I made regarding karmic revenge. And I retaliate.
  • First yummylicious scarf for myself with my birthday gift - yarns - from Nil! (I always knit for other people…)
  • Am now in Debuntante 3 for French. Woo!
  • Got myself a Palm PDA.
  • NaNoWriMo got its first press coverage..
  • The tiger, dog and engineer story…*grrr*

November

  • NaNoWriMo officially starts and thescarfer.net goes through a slowdown.
  • The ‘bad’ news came.
  • Singapore gets hounded over a Van issue.
  • The nude ear-squat saga begins.

December

  • The issue with me money lending friend reaches the point of no-return.
  • The stupid ex sends me an email with the words “you always want to have the last say” in reference to my convo with his dad. WTF.
  • Got myself a perm and ended up being teased by Nil.
  • Paris and Lyon, here I come! Not to mention snow and Nil’s family + friends too.
  • Chronicles of Narnia is released on film together with King Kong. Heh. (I just threw this last one in for fun.)

WOW…talk about an eventful year. :)

Countdown to the New Year - Part I

Mei | Thoughts | Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

Well, lookie here. We are about five days away from Christmas and a good eleven days from the New Year. No resolutions for me - just hopes and dreams that the next year will be a feel-good year.

Now, as per tradition during this festive season, I usually do up a list of “top” events/items/people that have either taught me a lot or made life shitty for me. But somehow, I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to do a list of the same stuff again. It’s boring and well…tiring since reminding yourself of shitty stuff can really REALLY get to you. So I thought that maybe a month by month recount would be fun.

Christmas blues.

Mei | Life | Monday, December 19th, 2005

Contrary to popular belief, the only Christmasy right now in my house is the Christmas tree with the gawd-knows-how-old lights. I know, it is the season for festivities - yule logs, Christmas baubbles, Christmas tree, Christmas presents, Santa Clause, etc…

BUT…

  • Mum is sick.
  • I am dead tired from the pile-up at work and exams for French.
  • Have yet to finish packing for the trip. (Have too many things to take there.)
  • Broke from buying presents. (Although parents gave me some cash for the trip. YAY!)
  • Dad wants an address for every single location that we are going to stay in France. -.-
  • The world is still too small.

And right now…I have a bloody migraine. NO, it’s not the time of the month and I’m hardly near it too.

Christmas joy? Oh humbug. Not right now.

~_~

(Don’t mind me. I’m too tired for witty banter.)

House-husbands. Are we ready for them?

Mei | Thoughts | Friday, December 16th, 2005

This comes a day late. Apologies. It is just that things have been going crazy at the office with the holiday season just looming ahead PLUS the fact that I’ll be away soon. Gack.

Kevin Francis (I wonder what happened to Simon?) and Caroline addressed this issue of “house-husbands” yesterday when a woman wrote in seeking for advice about the issue of her husband volunteering to stay at home and take care of the family while she (the woman) went off to work and be the breadwinner.

As the phone calls come in and went out, it seemed as if the women were dead against the idea and MOST of the men (save for Kevin) were cool about the idea of wearing an apron and holding a pan in one hand (and a baby in the other).
