Pizza goodness!

Do I have to say it? I LOVE cooking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ability to experiment, the moment when you see your results before you - steaming hot and fresh from the oven/pot…it’s surreal yet uplifting…

This definitely beats having frozen pizzas for dinner/lunch! XD

Homemade Gooey Pizza

Ingredients

(A) For the dough
240 gms semi-white flour
120 ml warm water
1/2 tbsp olive oil
3/4 tsp salt
Slightly less than 1/2 tsp instant yeast

(B) The topping
Onions
Tuna
Fresh mushrooms
Smoked pork belly
Mozzarella cheese
Pesto sauce

Method

  1. Prepare (A) by following the bread machine’s instructions OR mix all together by hand and knead for 20 minutes before allowing the dough to rise for an hour.
  2. Finely slice the smoked pork belly into thin strips and do the same with the onions, fresh mushrooms and cheese.
  3. When the dough is ready, roll out thinly and place on a lightly floured pan or aluminium foil, drizzle olive oil on the top and bake in a preheated oven at 220 C for five minutes.
  4. Remove the pizza base from the oven and spread the pesto sauce over the dough before topping it with the rest of the ingredients ending with the cheese.
  5. Drizzle some olive oil over the top and sprinkle some cracked black pepper on the top before baking in the oven at 200 C until the crust turns golden brown.
  6. Serve as is with beer and/or Tabasco sauce.

  1. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
I’m wondering do you use pizza stone or just bake in ordinary pan ?

  2. Simmone: I just bake it on the aluminium foil (it doubles as a pan!) but I’m planning to get a pizza pan. :)

  3. mei,
My pizza is in process i’m using the old recipe (2 tsp yeast) coz i dunno how much is 1/5 tsp of yeast. Overall both recipe is quite similar eg : 220g flour, 125ml water.

Can i know whether you knead the dough in machine or by hand. I knead by hand and find that the dough surface is not smooth. Even the 2nd time i’m doin it now. Perhaps i should try using machine next time?

Tell you what , i my gotto dispose my leftover mozarella cheese ( they got sour and rotten). Nvm pizza without cheese this :(

Oh ya, i’m goin to try your method, prebake the crust for 5 min, then put toppings and further bake them. Hmm.. perhaps we should hunt for pizza pan.. for the homemade crust! Let me know when you found yours. I want to see :P

  4. Simmone Y’know what? I could have made an error with the recipe (1/2 teaspoon of yeast instead of 1/5…) - will check on that and change it after this. I use the machine to do everything including proof it. If you need by hand, there is a technique to it (I can’t describe it though) and you have to knead it for at least 15 to 20 minutes.

Is there a pizza dough option on your machine where it just kneads and proofs the dough for you?

(Yeah, my mozzarella died on me as well…)
